Early Morning Protein Jolt

shake 2

I never thought I would post a recipe like this. Actually if you had told me a few months ago that I would have grass fed gelatin as a part of my diet I would have laughed in your face. I actually used to not eat much meat at all. Now I eat more meat than I have in my entire life. It has actually been the best change I have ever made physically. I also have cut out of the things that caused me to feel so sick which has made a huge difference.  I know everyone is different but this has personally been what my body has needed.

I am often in a hurry during the course of a work week. I find myself often throwing together a protein shake to get me through to my next meal. I have never really enjoyed protein shakes. 1. They taste terrible. 2. I never trust the quality of ingredients. 3. They cost an arm and a leg.

So I decided to purchase a pure form of protein and basically make my own. I am SO glad I did! My stomach never feels bad after using the gelatin and it keeps me full for a very long time. I also know that it is helping to heal my gut so I can live a healthier life.

Shake 3

Makes: About 12 ounces

1 Tablespoon grass fed gelatin

1 Tablespoon ground Chia seeds

1 Tablespoon Coconut oil

1/4 of an avocado

½ cup Warm brewed coffee (Caff or decaf)

1 Tablespoon Sun butter or Almond

1 Tablespoon cocoa or cacao powder

1 Cup Non Dairy Milk*

1 Tablespoon raw honey (optional)

Dash of cinnamon (Optional)

Grab a small bowl and put the gelatin with some water and let it sit more a min. Then put it in the blender and add the coffee and coconut oil. Blend until everything has dissolved. Add the Chia, sunbutter, cocoa, milk, honey and cinnamon (if desired) and blend until smooth. Add a few cubes of ice and blend until desired smoothness.

Pour in a glass and enjoy!

    • Thanks! Its pretty unique but I like it! I know Great Lakes makes one for “cold” drinks so it will dissolve and not thicken. Might see how I like that next. But I’ve read that the red one has more amino acids and proteins so I think its worth the thickness. :)
